FFA Speaking Contests

Students interested in competing in speaking contest contests-
 here are some resources and important dates to help you: 

THE FFA CREED CONTEST: 
This contests is only for freshman. In the contest, a student must memorize the five paragraphs of the creed written by E.M. Tiffany. Then, they will be asked 2-3 questions about agriculture, and the FFA. They are scored based on how well they recite the creed, and how well they answer the Questions.

THE OPENING AND CLOSING CEREMONIES CONTEST:
The opening and closing ceremonies are the standard procedures to open and close a meeting. In teams of six, students compete as a team to recite the Opening and closing ceremonies to the best of their abilities.

High Desert O/C is on October 1, 2015. 

THE IMPROMPTU PUBLIC SPEAKING CONTEST: 
Sophmores competing in this contest will be tested on their ability to speak without a lot of preporation. Given a minute to choose a topic from a set of unknown topics, then given a minute to prepare a 30 second to 2 minute speech. Students compete in two different rounds: a questions round, with questions about FFA and agriculture, and a round with key words about leadership and other AG issues.

PREPARED PUBLIC SPEAKING: 
 In this contest, students prepare a 6-8 minute speech on an Agriculture topic of their choice. Students must turn in a copy of their speech, and are judged on recitation and memorization.

High Desert Prepared is on January 27, 2016. 

EXTEMPORANEOUS PUBLIC SPEAKING: 
Students must choose a topic. They are then given 30 minutes to prepare a 3-5 minute speech. They are then asked questions based off what they spoke on.

JOB INTERVIEW: 
Students who participate in this contest need skills in, well, interviews! They will turn in a resume and cover letter prior to the contest, and then fill out an application upon the day of the contest. Then, they will go through an actual interview, in order to "get the job."
